FanFiction Friday #8

fancyfics0001kopieEvery Friday, I’ll post one of my fan fiction favorites on this blog, because there are some great writers out there that simply write for fun, not necessarily for publishing, and their stories deserve to be read and recommended. I’ll try to post fics about different fandoms as much as possible but I can’t make any promises about which fandoms will appear on here.

This week’s recommendation is an all-human AU Twilight fic.

General info (as listed on FanFiction.net)

Title: Inside Out
Author: It’s part of a contest, so I don’t know who the author is yet!
Pairing: Bella/Edward
Genre: Romance
Chapters: 1
Rating: M
Status: Complete
Summery: “Bella knows she isn’t what her best friend Edward is looking for in a partner. But could a handful of fateful invitations turn everything she thinks she knows inside out?”

My opinion

I was looking for a quick story the other day and ended up reading this one-shot. I immediately loved it, the strong friendship between Bella and Edward and the way the plot developed. The plot is a bit surprising I suppose, but that’s what made it interesting. It consists of cute, short parts telling about the friendship Bella and Edward have and it gives you just enough background to understand the story. Their emotions and feelings are well-described and shown. All in all, it was exactly the kind of read I was looking for.

Hot Ticket (Sinners on Tour #3) – O. Cunning

First of all, I want to say thank you to my recent followers! I’m really happy you decided to follow this little blog of mine. Secondly, I want to apologize. Life is really crazy right now, so it took me a while to get this review out… But better late than never, right? Cliches do exist for a reason.

General  book info

Title: Hot Ticket (Sinners on Your #3)
Author:  Olivia Cunning
Genre: Adult fiction/Erotica/Romance
Themes: Rock band, some BDSM, accepting the past
Read in: English
First published in: 2013

Backside

There are things in bassist Jace Seymour’s past that he is unwilling to share with anyone. To cover his guilt and anguish, he seeks dominatrix Mistress V (Aggie) to temporarily placate his inner turmoil.

Aggie doesn’t have much use for men–besides the power rush she gets when they’re begging for mercy at her feet–but Jace isn’t like her usual clients. His cool defiance and unexpected dominance in the bedroom drives her to distraction and quickly steals her heart.

When circumstances threaten Jace’s position in Sinners, Aggie must help him regain his rightful place in the band while showing him that time and love can heal all wounds.

My opinion

Jace is such a likable character! Even though, he’s struggling a lot to come to terms with certain things from his past, he shows a kind of strength that makes me like him from page one and I really liked the personal development we see over the span of this story. It took me a tad longer to like Aggie but she’s pretty bad ass and so much better than the female character in Rock Hard, Jessica. The two of them are sort-of friends, having worked together in a strip club, but I’d pick Aggie over Jessica anytime. Aggie is quick to overcome her doubts about the connection she shares with Jace, whereas Jessica annoyed the **** out of me with her whiny and unrealistic reasoning.

Cunning’s writing style is a pleasant constant in her stories. The sex scenes are well-written and incredibly hot. The plot development was fortunately a bit better in this piece than it was in Rock Hard, even though it’s a still bit overly dramatic at some points. These band members should get a group discount, or at the very least a group membership of U.S. hospitals. That said, this book was a real relief after part two of the series and with it, Cunning has convinced me to check out the next book in the series as well.

GR 2013 Reading Challenge Update #5

Time for an update on my 2013 Reading Challenge! As I had predicted, life has become a lot busier recently. I don’t know what it is about those last two months of the year but my schedule is always completely full. Anyway, it’s affecting my reading time, so I haven’t been able to read much since the last update. I have increased my goal by a mere 2 books to the weird number of 47 books. I wondered for a moment if I should increase my goal to 50 books but I know that would just be an unrealistic goal. Maybe for 2014? Who knows…

Books I’ve read since the last update:

You can already read the reviews of If I Stay and Where She Went on the blog. A review of Hot Ticket (Sinners on Tour #3) will follow soon.

Thank you for reading!
Love,
Cristina
